Play

Remind me of my youth,
When play was permitted and preferred,
When playing with myself wasn’t considered dirty, but delightful;
When playing with others wasn’t disgusting, but daring;
When play was understood as a form of discovery
Of self, of others, of everyone and everything.
When I was allowed to unearth myself,
To delight in my uniqueness,
To ponder, perform, pirouette, and parade;
When playing was fun and frivolous,
Full of promise and discovery
of polar bears hugging huskies,
and puppies cuddling kittens;
When I could exalt, excite,
Embrace, and be enhanced.
Chase me, enlighten me,
Arouse me, transform me.
But above all else,
Play with me.
