In early 2020, I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands…. I still had work for clients and responsibilities as a mother, but the carefully curated routine of creative activities was dismantled by lockdowns. No more art workshop on Monday nights, drama class on Tuesday evenings, dance on Wednesdays….
Open mic poetry continued online, but the hours spent preparing for and winding down after it were now available for sober poets to fill with other activities. The lack of social drinking meant I was home alone the second the mic was disconnected.
My thumbs twiddled and then decided to join forces with my fingers to create this website. I uploaded some poems – most since removed to either save face or save them for possible publication – and some sketches and musings…. and once the city streets filled with the feet and sounds of people, I turned my back on this once loyal and loving space.
I have since left Larnaca for London, but continue to carry my love for quirky creativity and connection. And so I return to this space, this creative playpen, to once again explore without fear, and share with vulnerability and vitality.
